Adult Acting
with group LAMDA exams & performances
Are you 18 or over? Always wanted to act? Feel nervous speaking in public? Want to be in real shows? Join our adult company class!
Taught by nationally acclaimed theater writer and director Bart Lee, qualified teacher Becki Moir and guests. A class for beginners to more experienced actors. Confidence building and empowering!
Each term the class covers technique, confidence and rehearsal towards a show or exam. From 2011 we also began offering group LAMDA exams. The class gained a DISTINCTION for their first acting exam!
From September 2012, each term will have a different focus and theme (for example film acting, classical text, commercial acting) and will be taught by the best teaching professionals and guest workshop leaders. Classes will also be slightly longer following feedback from members who wanted even more!
Solo & Duo exams are available if required - but will need a separate private lesson.
You may join at any point during any term. A free trial class is available to see if we are right for you.
Beginners and more experienced actors are welcome. The group is kept to a minimum of 8 and maximum of 20 members. Shows will be small scale, and give everyone a chance to shine.
The best actors in the group may be offered places in our agency and possible paid work in our professional touring shows and other events. This course saw 7 of the initial founding members in paid touring work by the end of their first term!
If you are a total beginner, you will still learn from, and love this inclusive course! This is not just for experienced actors.
A great place to network, make friends, build confidence and get into local community theater for beginners or those returning to performing after a break.
You must be free on Wednesday evenings, and a couple of weekends (by arrangement) for additional rehearsal if needed for a show.
Wednesdays - 7.00pm- 8.30pm (term time). Each term is 12 weeks/classes long, with a break for half term, in line with main stream school term times. See term dates on the front page for more info. Any additional rehearsal for shows or exams is included in the fee. Fees do not include exam costs (which vary by grade).
Overview:
Spring Term (Jan-March): Students work on scenes and technique, with a short scene presentation for family and friends in April.
Summer Term (April - July): Students can choose to take part in supporting or lead roles (depending on audition and experience) at The Windsor Globe - a chance to be in a real show, with professionals for two weeks!
Autumn Term (September - December): Students work on scenes to prepare for the annual Christmas show. The same scenes will be used for LAMDA grades in mid January (exams are not compulsory, but most students opt to take them as a way of validating their progress).
Max 20 company members.
NOW TAKING NAMES FOR AUTUMN TERM 2012.
A free trial class is available (subject to space). Each person will be asked to complete a questionnaire so the tutor understands your experience, and why you are taking the class (what you want to achieve). By doing this we can alter lesson plans to accommodate and exceed the expectations of the adult learners.
Students who take this class can be seen in supporting roles at The Windsor Globe July & August 2012. See www.windsorglobe.co.uk for details. This gives adults the chance to put their new skills to the test. More experienced actors are invited to audition for paid lead roles.
