Dance Majors
Artemis Dance Company Saturday School
If you are aged 12-16, and would like to fast track your dance training, this is the class for you!
Like our 'triple threat' classes, you will spend Saturday being tutored by the best staff, but on this course you can 'major' in the subject you love!
This group of dancers are all at an intermediate level. They work on technique, theory, flexibility and stamina, as well as a range of styles.
They have options, depending on their ambitions, to add additional classes (at additional cost) to create a bespoke program to speed them towards an advanced level.
What happens in Saturday class?
2.30-3.30
You will spend the first hour working on Jazz and Street at an advanced level with our older, experienced dancers. This will be tough - but will show you the standard you are aiming for, and will really push and challenge you! You will work together on some routines, and on others you will split into two halves, and work on routines designed especially for entry in International level competitions (the two teams will be determined by age and ability for the competitions).
3.30 - 4.00
Conditioning, flexibility and technique. This is important as it will not only give you a good grounding in essential technique, it also allows the tutor to give each dancer prescriptive exercises to complete at home each week between class to improve performance.
4.00-5.00
You will work intensively on two dance style modules (which will change each term): Street, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Jazz & Lyrical.
Each style will have a challenging routine set, the best of which will be used for school shows and group exams.
Who are the students in this class?
The class is designed to be taken by any young dancer who would like to progress to one of our advanced companies, or audition for dance school post GCSE or A Level.

Artemis and The Allied Schools of Dance, who also offer dance at our studios, will work together with you and your parents to put together a program of classes to speed you along.
You must be prepared to work hard, and put in a lot of hours and have a genuine natural ability.
Just to gain your place at a good full time vocational dance school post GCSE/A Level you will be competing against dancers who have been training since they could walk - you will have a lot of catching up to do, but for a motivated, very talented, hardworking dancer, it is possible! Please ask about additional classes if going to one of the top dance colleges is your ambition.
