L.A. Ready – film and television training for ambitious young actors! Focuses exclusively on TV and Film acting and production techniques.

L.A Ready has been run as a holiday course for the last couple of years, but to meet the demand and ambitions of our teenage actors, we are bringing it back as a term time class for Spring/summer 2012!

We are now registered with OFSTED and will accept Childcare Vouchers on classes starting from September 2011!

Next Course: May 2011

Study includes;
Genres,
Technique (i.e. cold and scene read, audition technique, slating, commercial styles...) ,
technical terminology and focus,
camera work,
Voice over work (including recording in a studio)
Devising (including improvisation)
Script writing and analysis,
Screening auditions.

The courses includes a field trip to film, and we welcome prestigious guest teachers for workshops throughout the term (fight skills, make up, casting directors).

Students review their work for critical analysis.

The new course will be an ongoing two year long program (which can be joined in any term subject to space), split over three 10 week terms each year.

Each term students will follow a basic format, Technique and Genre topics for the term, working with a specialist guest, devise a short film, a shoot on location, further guest workshops, a review week with a test (to ensure everyone is absorbing as much as possible) and finally a chance for family and friends to see the filmed work ( a short film, and polished pieces from class) in a real cinema.

Guests (which will vary each term) include BBC writers, Dr Who actors, vocal (dialect) specialists, directors, film make up artists, fight skills specialists, Casting directors and more!

Each student will finish each term with a polished short audition piece in a different style, preparing them for real auditions. Filmed work will build up into a show reel.

Fees include all materials, workshops and travel to the termly shoot. Fees are payable termly in advance, but can be split into three pieces if needed. Half a terms notice is required to withdraw from all Artemis courses to allow for planning. Scholarships are not available, but we would never want to lose a student for financial reasons - please talk to us if you may need help and we will do our best!

The key tutor on this course will be Artemis director, Niki Robinson.

Formed to support the further training of those wishing to, or already working professionally as performers in film and television.

Past successes: many of our L.A. Ready students have gone on to work professionally as child actors in film and television in the UK. One student, Raneisha, gained a manager and agent in Los Angeles as a result of her training and lived in California for a year, gaining paid work in film and TV in the USA.

We provide film and television acting technique training to young actors. Most of our current students already have a considerable amount of experience as actors (see success stories), and work professionally in film and television. We do consider students who are just starting out though - if you are serious about a career in film and television call us!

L.A Ready does not require audition, but you MUST be serious about learning, and prepared to learn lines and do a little research in your own time. Students aged under 12 will be accepted if we feel they will enjoy and benefit from the course.
