Triple threat Beginners

Acting, Singing & Dancing

Saturday - 11 am - 2.20 pm | £297.00 per term

Beginners all-round drama, dance and music course. A stage school experience for younger children in full time education.

Our saturday course for new actors, singers and dancers offers more than just drama games. Our tutors work together to tailor stimulating imaginative classes which really stretch each individual. Younger children work to the same syllabus as the older group, but the context is age appropriate and delivered in a fun and colorful way! Confidence and improved articulation are two of the aims we set ourselves for our youngest performers.

We are now registered with OFSTED and will accept Childcare Vouchers on classes starting from September 2011!

Free trial class available.

'Triple threat' is an industry term for performers who are proficient in all three disciplines - Acting, Singing and Dancing. An actor who can sing and dance with some confidence has far more job opportunities than one who can't.

  • In drama, children will learn about famous play writers, film makers and stage craft.
  • In music, children work on songs together, and begin to learn basic vocal techniques, musicianship and to read sheet music.
  • For dance, fitness and agility are key, with through warm ups, a routine and the basic steps to build up to devising show dance. The dance is fun and even 'non dancers' will want to take part!

Some terms conclude with a show, which will be produced by the group to be played in a mid scale theatre or other public venue. Other terms give tutors the chance to workshop on a variety of subjects, with special guests visiting (such as make up artists, song writers, vocal & dialect coaches). These non - show terms will conclude with a work-share/parents evening at the studio for parents to see what the children have been working on. We also offer parents a trial 30 minute class so they can see for themselves how hard their children work!

The beginners class is limited to 16 students to ensure the highest levels of attention and quality of training. The course is taught by male and female staff to ensure balance and sufficient role-modeling. Although we have set 8 as the guideline for joining, we will consider a younger child by interview.

Priority booking is offered to those attending the previous term of classes. Other places are allocated on a first come, first served basis, through a waiting list system.

A uniform of school teeshirt, leggings or black jazz pants and black jazz shoes is worn.

Suggested ages 5-8 years old (children will need to be able to read, 4 year olds are welcome to try the class if they have basic reading skills).
