Bracknell based ‘Artemis All-stars’ Cheer leaders took part in their their first ever Street Cheer competition last week, in Stoke on Trent. Street Cheer is new to the UK and combines Street Dance with traditional Cheerleading.

The competition was fierce and with 15 squads competing in their section (seniors) and over 1200 cheerleaders taking part across all categories.

Medusa alumni Robert Jackson had some fun last week when he was picked for a spoof advert!

The Young actor was chosen with another teen to be a lookalike for the now infamous "Jedward" brothers. The advert is a spoof which shows the boys supposedly being filmed on a security camera during rehearsals. they are then removed by a rubbish removal firm.

Four of our students helped out at the BBC over the summer. Josie Stanton, Stephen Stanton, Grace Key and Rhiann Connor were all sent by our agency to help CBBC pick a new presenting team!

Thanks to a fabulous grant from the local Youth Opportunity Scheme, we are able to encourage 6 young men to join our brilliant competitive Street Cheer squad for 2010.Street Cheer is a Cheer/Hip Hop/Street fusion. Boys don't use Pon Pons.

Medusa company members have begun the work on their up-coming summer movie.

Just before half term, the teen company (all aged 14-20) worked for an afternoon with the BBC writer who is to pen their film.

Once again the Artemis Allstars and their junior squad the JV Stars will travel to Telford for the BCA classic. We will also be submitting a limited number of solo's into this event for the first time.

The teams will head up to the two day event on the Saturday to watch the stunt cheer competition. On the Sunday they will compete in team and solo events themselves.

Once again, our performance dance groups Dance Company, Artemis Allstars (with JV Stars) and two soloists including Shebnum from Adult Belly Dance will perform for the crowds in Charles Square and the town in the run up to the Christmas Lights being switched on, as part of the festivities.

Sunday 29th November, 12pm-4pm

L.A. Ready (our film and television acting course) comes to Saturday school! Next summer (2010) - we will be making two films instead of one theatre show (there will still be plenty of live performances don't worry!) Starring Triple Threat and Medusa students, this fabulous project is being written by Holby City and BBC writer Daren Thomas (for Medusa) and one other guest writer (for Triple Threat) especially for our students - more details to follow soon!

Join us for our annual student showcase on 5th December 2009, featuring all our Saturday (Dance Majors, Triple Threat, Medusa Theatre Company), Cheerleaders, Dance Company, and for the first time our weekday dance students (Ballet, Tap & solos). Petite Street (ages 4-9) and more!
This Christmas will be a family event with a difference!

For four shows, the studios will be transformed into a set as the players from the Medusa Theatre Company present Bart Lee's Dick Whittington! With original music from the cast, and pop favourites, family friendly jokes, and tap dancing pie-ratz!!

Based on the classic children's fairy tale, this show has been revised and adapted for Medusa.

For the second year running, Artemis will help entertain the 6000 strong crowds at The Marvellous Festival!

Congrats to Tony Allgood, agency client and friend of Artemis.

Shakespeare summer school students had a great time on their course during our second summer school week during July.

In addition to learning sonnets, monologues and scenes, the children undertook fight skills workshops, period dance and practiced their parts for the end of week showcase for parents.

For the last week of July 2009, dozens of young performers (some just 3!) came to Artemis to learn to sing, dance and act.

The children broke into two groups, 7 and below and 8-11 to learn routines, songs and scenes ready to present to their parents at the end of the week.

The course was a huge success, and all the children and tutors had a superb (and exausting!) week.

This summer, for two days, Artemis Students, supported in the audience by their friends and families, performed at the fantastic Marvellous Family Festival in Wellington Country Park.

'Elizabeth Moon and the Secret of the Midnight Orphange' written and directed by Bart Lee for Medusa Theatre Company and Triple Threat played to audiences in Reading for a week in July.

The set was designed by Jan Allen, and built with the help of six work experience students from Edgbarrow school in Crowthorne.

Check our Ross Allen! The model was signed last November, and has now undertaken many jobs. This picture is Ross, 40 feet tall on a billboard in Mailan. The photo can also be seen in Selfridges London in Menswear at the moment (just Ross in Selfridges). Ross is the redhead in the green jacket.

Go Ross!!
