Bracknell based ‘Artemis All-stars’ Cheer leaders took part in their their first ever Street Cheer competition last week, in Stoke on Trent. Street Cheer is new to the UK and combines Street Dance with traditional Cheerleading.

The competition was fierce and with 15 squads competing in their section (seniors) and over 1200 cheerleaders taking part across all categories.

Medusa alumni Robert Jackson had some fun last week when he was picked for a spoof advert!

The Young actor was chosen with another teen to be a lookalike for the now infamous "Jedward" brothers. The advert is a spoof which shows the boys supposedly being filmed on a security camera during rehearsals. they are then removed by a rubbish removal firm.

Four of our students helped out at the BBC over the summer. Josie Stanton, Stephen Stanton, Grace Key and Rhiann Connor were all sent by our agency to help CBBC pick a new presenting team!

Thanks to a fabulous grant from the local Youth Opportunity Scheme, we are able to encourage 6 young men to join our brilliant competitive Street Cheer squad for 2010.Street Cheer is a Cheer/Hip Hop/Street fusion. Boys don't use Pon Pons.

Medusa company members have begun the work on their up-coming summer movie.

Just before half term, the teen company (all aged 14-20) worked for an afternoon with the BBC writer who is to pen their film.

Once again the Artemis Allstars and their junior squad the JV Stars will travel to Telford for the BCA classic. We will also be submitting a limited number of solo's into this event for the first time.

The teams will head up to the two day event on the Saturday to watch the stunt cheer competition. On the Sunday they will compete in team and solo events themselves.

Once again, our performance dance groups Dance Company, Artemis Allstars (with JV Stars) and two soloists including Shebnum from Adult Belly Dance will perform for the crowds in Charles Square and the town in the run up to the Christmas Lights being switched on, as part of the festivities.

L.A. Ready (our film and television acting course) comes to Saturday school! Next summer (2010) - we will be making two films instead of one theatre show (there will still be plenty of live performances don't worry!) Starring Triple Threat and Medusa students, this fabulous project is being written by Holby City and BBC writer Daren Thomas (for Medusa) and one other guest writer (for Triple Threat) especially for our students - more details to follow soon!

Join us for our annual student showcase on 5th December 2009, featuring all our Saturday (Dance Majors, Triple Threat, Medusa Theatre Company), Cheerleaders, Dance Company, and for the first time our weekday dance students (Ballet, Tap & solos). Petite Street (ages 4-9) and more!
This Christmas will be a family event with a difference!

For four shows, the studios will be transformed into a set as the players from the Medusa Theatre Company present Bart Lee's Dick Whittington! With original music from the cast, and pop favourites, family friendly jokes, and tap dancing pie-ratz!!

Based on the classic children's fairy tale, this show has been revised and adapted for Medusa.

For the second year running, Artemis will help entertain the 6000 strong crowds at The Marvellous Festival!

Shakespeare summer school students had a great time on their course during our second summer school week during July.

In addition to learning sonnets, monologues and scenes, the children undertook fight skills workshops, period dance and practiced their parts for the end of week showcase for parents.

For the last week of July 2009, dozens of young performers (some just 3!) came to Artemis to learn to sing, dance and act.

The children broke into two groups, 7 and below and 8-11 to learn routines, songs and scenes ready to present to their parents at the end of the week.

The course was a huge success, and all the children and tutors had a superb (and exausting!) week.

This summer, for two days, Artemis Students, supported in the audience by their friends and families, performed at the fantastic Marvellous Family Festival in Wellington Country Park.

'Elizabeth Moon and the Secret of the Midnight Orphange' written and directed by Bart Lee for Medusa Theatre Company and Triple Threat played to audiences in Reading for a week in July.

The set was designed by Jan Allen, and built with the help of six work experience students from Edgbarrow school in Crowthorne.

Check our Ross Allen! The model was signed last November, and has now undertaken many jobs. This picture is Ross, 40 feet tall on a billboard in Mailan. The photo can also be seen in Selfridges London in Menswear at the moment (just Ross in Selfridges). Ross is the redhead in the green jacket.

Congrats to Artemis seniors who returned to reprise their roles in the new St Trinians movie over the summer.

The girls enjoyed the experience so much in 2007, they went back for more in August 2009!

Artemis also provided a team of chaperones for the film - we aren't sure who had a better time- the actors or the chaperones!

Star pupil Scarlett Windle has done it again!

She passed through tough auditions to gain a place in girl band The Madame Project (who have already had chart success in the US).

Scarlett is one of the five extremely talented girls, aged 18 to 24. She has spent two months recording new material with the group, learning dance routines, working with top stylists and photographers.

The girls were at the Wyndham Grand Hotel in Chelsea (along with Brad Clapson, Steph Still, Ellesha Newton, Niki Robinson and Scarletts extended family - just some of the 500 invited guests) to watch and celebrate the launch of Scarletts new girl band The Madame Project.

I would like to extend a BIG thank you to everyone who helped us collect vouchers for the schools and clubs scheme from Tesco. We signed up late in the day - but still raised over 2000 vouchers before the deadline - and the new equipment has been ordered for autumn.

We had a great time partying late into the night on the last day of Spring term in April!

After the annual informal work share (where parents take a class before seeing extracts of work and meeting tutors), people got changed into their fancy dress, and the party started!

Medusa company members (and agency clients) Max Puplett and Emily Dance have been putting their acting skills to a new use!

Having successfully auditioned, both are now undertaking very regular work in helping train surgeons at the Royal College of Surgeons.

Congratulations to 'Medusa' company member Lucy Phillips - who has booked the co - lead in a small film - The Goblin Market. This is Lucy's first lead - she has film experience as a background artist, and extensive theatre experience.

Lucy will co-star with another teen in this fun film based on a Victorian poem. She shoots from the end of June.

Local artist, Gill Lockett, has been a regular face at the studios over the last two weeks. Gill has been transforming images of real students into larger than life steel coloured silhouettes in the big floor to ceiling windows facing Charles square.

Senior Artemis student, and Petite Street teacher Maria Gunning, 18, took dance outreach to a local school this term.

Maria has been teaching sessions at Wildridings Primary school to a group of ten boys and girls keen to take their first steps in dance. Her Saturday classes at Artemis for 4-8 year olds have become very popular and now only a few places remain!

This April, members of the Artemis AllStars cheer squad took one of their routines to Telford for a Midlands Classic competition.

The girls fund raised hard before the event and raised over £1200 to pay for the trip so their parents didn't need to!

Dance Company and Dance Majors took part in a regional All England dance competition in the Easter holidays.

Both troupes performed brilliantly and Dance Majors took home a prize in their category!

They will return to ALl England next spring to compete in heats for national and regional finals.

Lydia Allen has made it through to the final of Miss Teen Queen 2009!

She will travel with family and friends to Liverpool in August to take part in the live finals.

Lydia fought a strong campaign, canvassing for votes online to get her into the final. Literally 1000's of people thought she looked great and txt their vote in.

New class starting after February half term! 'Petite Street'

As many of you already know - we run fun RAD pre-primary classes for little ballet dancers (Thursdays - 4.15 - 5.00 ages 3.5 up).
From the second half of term we will also introduce Street Dance for little dancers (aged 4 -8). The classes run on Saturday mornings, 10.15-11.00.

ITS success story books his first job!

[inline:DSC_0021.JPG] Student Lydia Allen, already on her way to a promising modelling career (she is in talks with three top agencies), was 'spotted' by a scout for 'Miss TeenQueen', and has made the semi finals! Lydia was on a day out at The Clothes Show when she was pulled form the crowd to take part.

Lydia can be seen on the www.teenqueenuk.com website, and she needs your vote!

9 year old Jamie Ryan is having a great year!

After a series of auditions, he has landed a great lead role in a film about a father and son 'Fathers Day' - playing 'Max', the son.

Congratulations to student Scarlett Windle 18, who was spotted by dance scouts at the I.T.S convention she attended with Artemis agents in November. The talented teen has now signed to a great dance agency, but also remains with Artemis as her mother agent.

Scarlett last year danced for Kylie Minogue in a TV show, and is a member of both our cheer squad and Dance Company.

Scarlett Windle,18, is in the running for two pageant titles at the same time! Judges will decide over the next month whether this gorgeous teen will go into the finals for 'Miss Teen World' and 'Miss Teen Galaxy'.

Scarlett has entered both competitions for fun, but if she wins the prizes will be fabulous!

Congrats to Guy Mannerings (22) and Emma Chapman (19) who have both just shot and recorded their first pop video. The shoot was for charity (V'inspired). After a couple of auditions, bit young actors were chosen for the London based project, which is released later this year.

All the cast and crew gave their time for free to support the charity.
