Party fun at the studios!
We had a great time partying late into the night on the last day of Spring term in April! After the annual informal work share (where parents take a class before seeing extracts of work and meeting tutors), people got changed into their fancy dress, and the party started!
Acting for science!
Medusa company members (and agency clients) Max Puplett and Emily Dance have been putting their acting skills to a new use! Having successfully auditioned, both are now undertaking very regular work in helping train surgeons at the Royal College of Surgeons.
The Goblin Market
Congratulations to 'Medusa' company member Lucy Phillips - who has booked the co - lead in a small film - The Goblin Market. This is Lucy's first lead - she has film experience as a background artist, and extensive theatre experience. Lucy will co-star with another teen in this fun film based on a Victorian poem. She shoots from the end of June.
Local artist decorates the studio!
Local artist, Gill Lockett, has been a regular face at the studios over the last two weeks. Gill has been transforming images of real students into larger than life steel coloured silhouettes in the big floor to ceiling windows facing Charles square.
Maria take dance into schools
Senior Artemis student, and Petite Street teacher Maria Gunning, 18, took dance outreach to a local school this term. Maria has been teaching sessions at Wildridings Primary school to a group of ten boys and girls keen to take their first steps in dance. Her Saturday classes at Artemis for 4-8 year olds have become very popular and now only a few places remain!
Artemis Allstars at BCA classic event - Easter09
This April, members of the Artemis AllStars cheer squad took one of their routines to Telford for a Midlands Classic competition. The girls fund raised hard before the event and raised over £1200 to pay for the trip so their parents didn't need to!
Dance - All England
Dance Company and Dance Majors took part in a regional All England dance competition in the Easter holidays. Both troupes performed brilliantly and Dance Majors took home a prize in their category! They will return to ALl England next spring to compete in heats for national and regional finals.
Lydia through to final!
Lydia Allen has made it through to the final of Miss Teen Queen 2009! She will travel with family and friends to Liverpool in August to take part in the live finals. Lydia fought a strong campaign, canvassing for votes online to get her into the final. Literally 1000's of people thought she looked great and txt their vote in.
Dance classes for pre schoolers - New!
New class starting after February half term! 'Petite Street' As many of you already know - we run fun RAD pre-primary classes for little ballet dancers (Thursdays - 4.15 - 5.00 ages 3.5 up). From the second half of term we will also introduce Street Dance for little dancers (aged 4 -8). The classes run on Saturday mornings, 10.15-11.00.
